Who's Who at the DC in the 80s webzine

Editorial Staff:

headshot of Justin Francoeur Justin Francoeur is the editor-in-chief of this webzine. He is also the main contributor, artist, marketer and 'ad man'. You can direct all of your praise and criticism to him at dcinthe80s@gmail.com. Justin studied Liberal Arts in college, but quickly switched to (and completed) a degree in Computer Sciences because COMPUTERS ARE THE FUTURE. Coincidentally, all web work/design for this webzine were done by him as well.

headshot of Mark Belkin Mark Belkin, the executive editor of this webzine, wishes he was working for DC Comics. But he's not. He's instead an Attorney working on Technology things. Sort of. His favorite characters are as follows. 1) The Question, 2) Solomon Grundy, 3) Aquaman, 4) Darkseid, 5) Captain Cold. He is obsessed with the Legion of Doom from the 70's. He is a failed Pro Wrestler. Available as a DJ for New Wave Parties and Bat Mitzvahs. You can book him at markbelkin@gmail.com.

Contributors:

headshot of Chris Sheehan Chris Sheehan was a lifelong Marvel Comics fan who one night fell asleep at the X-Mansion only to wake up on the Justice League Satellite. He's refused to vacate despite their best efforts, they hate that he always takes the last cup of coffee and refuses to put on a new pot. He has an almost unhealthy fixation on the 1980's era New Teen Titans (just ask him, he'll tell you... better off, don't). Not only does Chris contribute super-interesting articles to our webzine, he's also one of our photographers. Chris has an awesome review blog called Chris is on Infinite Earths. When Chris isn't thinking/writing about comics he is busy pretending not to be a pro-wrestling fan, cooking more food than his household can healthily digest and wrapping up his psychology degree.

headshot of Michael Alan CarlyleMichael Alan Carlyle spends his waking hours blogging, reading comics and writing Lovecraftian microfiction. His love affair with comics means he pays little attention to company labels, instead looking for good stories. When not at his writing desk, you'll find him lost among the castoff books in his Crapbox, where he pulls out all manner of forgotten trash and overlooked treasures. The worst of those forays he posts about over at The Crapbox of Son of Cthulhu. If you want to contact him, drop him a line by e-mail.

headshot of Susan Hillwig Susan Hillwig got hooked on comic books when her dad (an executive for a toy company) brought home a random stack of comped titles DC had sent to his office. Already infatuated with newspaper strips, sci-fi, and toys of all shapes and sizes, her fangirl fate was sealed at the age of 10 (three decades later, her mother still hopes that it's just a phase). Nowadays, when not hunting for hidden treasure at cons alongside her husband, she splits her time between chronicling Jonah Hex's life on her blog, One Fangirl's Opinion, and touring for her first novel, Swords & Sixguns: An Outlaw's Tale. In case you can't tell by the picture, she's Team Cap all the way.

headshot of Reggie Francia Reggie Francia got hooked on comics back in the '80s because his parents thought it would help with his reading skills. It did help with his reading skills, but it also turned him into a comic book junkie. Being an E.R. nurse, medical devices in comics drawn incorrectly still irks him. You can reach him at dcinthe80s@gmail.com.

headshot of Reggie Francia Deron Murphree (also known as D-Ron) is a sucker for the more forgotten heroes and villains of DC Comics. He is an advocate for Jason Todd and Earth's True Green Lantern, Guy Gardner. He has written reviews for Weird Science DC Comics. You can check out offworlddrifter.wordpress.com for more of Deron's articles, and you can follow his Twitter at @OffworldDrifter.

headshot of Gracja Novak Gracja Nowak is an accomplished Domestic Violence Attorney in Upstate New York who also has an eye for Cosplay Photography, having shot Boston Con, Albany Con and Toronto's Fan Expo. She can be reached by e-mail care of this webzine.

headshot of Anthony Anthony Kuchar hails from Welland, Ontario. A Graduate of Brock University’s Dramatic Arts Program, he has been involved with the theatre scene in Niagara for many years. Besides working on shows in Niagara Falls at the Scotiabank Convention Center, he currently sits on the Welland Arts and Culture Advisory Committee, and on the Canalside Players Community Theatre sub committee where he volunteers his skills. Anthony has had an interest in comics since he was young and his favorite 80’s DC books are Batman: The Cult, Sandman, The Watchmen and Frank Miller’s Ronin.

headshot of Adrian Adrian Knobelsdorf is our ace photographer and longtime Marvel comics fan. Esquire, VICE magazine and the Ottawa Citizen are just a few of the publications he aspires to have photos published in -- in the meantime, we'll be putting his excellent cosplay photography skills to work for us. Adrian can be reached by e-mail care of this webzine.

headshot of Samy Osman Samy Osman is an actor (Nikita, Saving Hope, Flashpoint, etc.), and occasional Harlequin cover model who is just as excited to be behind the camera and taking your picture. Superman's always been his favorite super hero and he secretly (or not so secretly) hopes that one day he'll get to portray him on screen. Find more of him at www.samyosman.com and check out his IMDB page here.
